Beehive Spring Kit

The Hamilton Cams 07-S-001 Beehive Spring Kit is engineered for 1989-1998 Dodge Cummins 5.9L 12-valve engines. This comprehensive kit includes the necessary retainers and locks to ensure proper installation and function. Upgrading valve springs is a critical, yet often overlooked, maintenance step that contributes to the overall longevity and performance of your engine, particularly when modifications involve increased boost levels or higher operating RPMs. For engines operating beyond 30 pounds of boost or drive pressure, or consistently exceeding 3500 RPM, valve float can occur, potentially leading to severe damage to the valvetrain. Furthermore, excessive boost and drive pressure can cause intake and exhaust valves to blow open, leading to reversion. This phenomenon, where exhaust gases re-enter the cylinder during the intake stroke, can significantly diminish power potential by creating an inert gas environment that shields fuel particles from oxygen, delaying combustion, reducing peak cylinder pressure and temperature, and prolonging the overall burn time. Hamilton Cams has observed performance gains of 10-12 horsepower in customers who upgraded from 60Lb. springs to their beehive springs. This kit is suitable for applications running up to 4,500 RPM with moderate camshafts and OEM-sized valves. For those operating above 4,500 RPM with aggressive camshafts and/or larger valves, Hamilton recommends their dual spring kits for enhanced safety and valve control.
