The ZZP Big Wheel Turbo V3.2 is the third iteration of their upgraded turbocharger, specifically engineered as a simple bolt-on replacement for the 1.4L turbo Cruze and Sonic models. Extensive R&D revealed that the factory exhaust outlet from the head/manifold to the turbo was a significant restriction. The V3.2 addresses this by increasing the inside diameter of this area, resulting in a 50% larger AR (0.60 vs. 0.40 stock). This modification facilitates a more efficient path to the turbine wheel, leading to faster spool times, even with the increased AR, and significant power increases of approximately 30-50whp over a stock turbo at the same boost level. The compressor wheel is 18% larger and the turbine wheel is 12% larger than stock, remaining unchanged from the V2 version. The wastegate diaphragm is also set 2psi higher than stock. Updates for the V3.2 include a redesigned casting that replicates the performance gains of previous hand-ported compressor inlets, now standard for improved flow. The V3.2 also features an updated bearing structure with improved oiling capabilities and a new internal bearing system for enhanced longevity and reliability. ZZP now includes their billet bypass valve on all V3 turbos for dependable performance. Installation requires tuning, and depending on the vehicle's existing modifications, available octane, and ethanol content, larger fuel injectors (such as 42lb injectors) may be necessary.
