The VTT Billet Aluminum Transmission Pan offers a significant upgrade over factory plastic or cast aluminum pans for the ZF 8HP automatic gearbox. Constructed from durable 6061-T6 billet aluminum, this pan is designed for enhanced longevity, improved serviceability, and performance benefits. It boasts a fluid capacity of 5.7 quarts, an increase of 2 quarts over the stock 3.7-quart capacity, which helps maintain optimal transmission temperatures. Key features include machined external fins for improved heat dissipation, an integrated rare-earth magnet in the filter area to capture metallic particles from the transmission fluid, and a reusable, US-made Viton gasket for a reliable, leak-free seal. The pan is also equipped with a -6 ORB magnetic drain plug, simplifying fluid changes. Fitment is confirmed for most small and mid-frame ZF8HP variants (40/50/51/55/65/70/75/76), including specific BMW models like the G8X M3/M4, F9X X3M/X4M, F9X M5, F9X M8, and the Toyota A9X Supra, as well as the BMW G2X 3 Series and G3X 5 Series. However, clearance is not increased on G8X M3/M4, F9X X3M/X4M, or F90 M5. For smaller ZF8HP models that originally used a plastic pan, this pan fits but results in reduced clearance. It is crucial to note that this pan is not compatible with large-frame 8HP transmissions found in applications like the Trackhawk, Hellcat, or TRX, though a version for these is reportedly under development. The transmission filter is sold separately.
