Billet Chromoly Steel Flywheel

The EXEDY Lightweight Flywheel combines low weight, low inertia, and high thermal capacity, making it an ideal component for performance vehicles. Constructed from solid one-piece billet chromoly steel or chromoly steel forgings, this flywheel offers superior strength and durability compared to standard steel or aluminum alternatives. Its design reduces rotational mass, leading to improved engine response and quicker revving, making it suitable for drag racing, autocross, rally events, and street use. EXEDY flywheels incorporate special design features to enhance airflow, which helps to improve clutch cooling. Unlike aluminum flywheels where the ring gear is pressed on and can separate due to differing expansion rates, this chromoly steel flywheel has integrated ring gear teeth for greater reliability. It also serves as a lightweight replacement for vehicles originally equipped with OE dual-mass flywheels. This specific EXEDY Lightweight Flywheel (FF501A) is designed for the 2004-2021 Subaru WRX STI models with the EJ207/EJ257 6-speed manual transmission. It is engineered to work seamlessly with EXEDY's Stage 1 through Stage 4 clutch kits, ensuring a complete and consistent drivetrain solution. The flywheel bolts are included in the box. EXEDY flywheels have undergone rigorous engineering tests and are guaranteed to withstand speeds of 15,000-18,000 RPM. They are all SFI 1.1 approved, meaning they meet the standards required for competitive motorsports. Resurfacing the flywheel during a clutch service is recommended to prolong clutch life, and it can be done following standard OEM service specifications without special tools.
