The JXB Performance Billet Shifter Mounting Plate is engineered to resolve the inherent weaknesses of the factory shifter assembly in Audi B8 and B.5 chassis vehicles. The OEM mounting plate is constructed from flimsy plastic with sound-deadening foam, and the slider bushings are made of soft rubber that deteriorates over time. This combination allows for excessive slop and flex, particularly during enthusiastic 1-2 shifts, potentially causing the shift linkage to bind and leading to missed shifts or the shifter getting caught in the reverse track. This issue is often misinterpreted as user error, but the JXB Billet Shifter Mounting Plate directly addresses the mechanical deficiency. Constructed from billet material, this mounting plate significantly reduces shifter slop and flex, providing a much more solid and direct feel. Gear changes become more crisp and confident, with distinct feedback indicating when the next gear has been successfully engaged. Installation is straightforward and can typically be performed from the driver's seat for most shifters.
