The Turbosmart vIWG (Vacuum Internal Wastegate) Actuator is engineered to optimize boost response for factory turbochargers, specifically for the R56 Mini Cooper S and John Cooper Works models equipped with the 1.6L Prince N14 & N18 Turbo engine. Its design incorporates an increased 'Working Ratio' compared to the stock unit, utilizing a larger diaphragm surface area and revised springs. This modification enhances the actuator's leverage against boost and backpressure, leading to improved responsiveness across the entire RPM range. Expect a broader boost and torque curve, with peak boost building earlier and sustaining longer into higher RPMs. While upgrading with the same base pressure as factory is possible, further improvements can be achieved with higher base pressures, though tuning and recalibration are recommended for optimal performance. Constructed with high-grade billet aluminum, the actuator features a proprietary Silicon Nomex Diaphragm, stainless steel rods and clevis, and Turbosmart's unique locking collar system for durability and precise adjustment. This is a direct bolt-on fitment for the factory turbocharger. Tuning and recalibration are recommended for optimal performance, especially when utilizing higher base pressures.
