BP51 Bypass Shock Absorber System

The Old Man Emu BP51 Suspension Kit is a high-performance bypass shock absorber system specifically engineered for the Toyota Tacoma, designed to accommodate models from 2005 through 2023. This comprehensive kit features front coilovers tuned for length and feel, capable of handling setups with or without accessories like bumpers or winches. The coilovers offer adjustable height, with the system targeting a 2-inch (50mm) ride height increase and a minimum of 2 inches (50mm) of down travel. Specific reservoir brackets are included for optimized placement, and the sway bar may need relocation for clearance. The rear shock absorbers are also tuned in length and valving to match the Tacoma and pair with Old Man Emu's range of rear leaf springs. A custom lower mount bracket ensures clearance to the axle, and specific reservoir brackets are provided in the rear fit kit. Recommended compression and rebound settings are detailed in the fitting instructions, which also note the left and right hand applications due to distinct reservoir mounting. The kit includes front coilovers (BP5190006L/R), front fit kit (VM80010016), rear leaf springs (Standard or HD options available), rear shocks (BP5160011L/R), rear fit kit (VM80010017), driveshaft fit kit (FK29), u-bolts (U53B), and spring bushing kits (SB108). Note that for medium load springs, removal of the 3rd leaf is required, and for constant 300kg springs, an extra leaf is needed. This kit is compatible with both 2WD and 4WD models, provided they have 6 lugs. Extended brake lines are not required. While UCA's (Upper Control Arms) are not strictly required, they are recommended for optimal caster adjustment during alignment and to enhance front-end articulation. Larger tires, such as 285/75R17, may fit but could require light to mild trimming of the front bumper and mud flaps. For those carrying significant constant loads, such as a camper shell or rooftop tent (approx. 600 lbs), reinforced HD rear springs are recommended.
