The BMW brake caliper is an OE replacement part manufactured in the Czech Republic. Over time, constant use, exposure to the elements, and contaminated brake fluid can cause the caliper piston to seize, necessitating replacement.

The BMW brake caliper is an OE (Original Equipment Manufacturer) replacement part, ensuring it meets the same standards as the component originally installed on your vehicle. Brake calipers are crucial for your vehicle's hydraulic system, extending the piston to force brake pads against rotors and slow your car. However, they are subjected to extreme heat from constant heating and cooling cycles. Common failures include the internal square-cut seal, which can be compromised by a corroded piston, leading to the piston seizing and preventing retraction. This results in dragging brakes and uneven pad wear. This caliper does not include the caliper carrier. Regular brake system flushes are recommended, as brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture over time, which can corrode internal components. Signs of caliper failure include a seized piston, brake fluid leaks from the piston boot, a broken or seized bleeder screw, or a heavily corroded piston. This part is compatible with various BMW models including E36, E46, Z3, and Z4, specifically for the front left position.
