The Carbotech XP8 is a high-performance brake compound engineered for track day applications. As Carbotech's entry-level racing compound, it delivers high torque, a wide operating temperature range from 200F to 1350F+, and excellent initial bite at race temperatures. With a high coefficient of friction (0.56), the XP8 compound provides superior modulation and release characteristics, crucial for precise braking control during demanding track sessions. While excellent for track days with any tire, Carbotech explicitly states that the XP8 is NOT for street use due to elevated levels of dust and noise. It is suitable for lighter applications (vehicles around 2,400 lbs or less) and can still be driven safely to and from the track. This specific part number, CT1656-XP8, is designed to fit various BMW models including the M2, M240i, M3, M4, and 330i variants, with specific fitment details provided for different chassis, brake types (iron rotors vs. M Carbon brakes), and caliper sizes across model years 2014-2021.
