Description

The Polaris IT-500 is a dual-sided entry insulated tap connector designed to form secure connections between multiple conductors with a rounded design and UV-resistant insulation coating. This connector simplifies installation as it only requires a hex key and torque wrench, eliminating the need for additional cover and taping. The dual-side wire entry allows for quick connections between two conductors, suitable for wires ranging from 500 MCM to 4 AWG. It is designed for use on the line side of service equipment, meeting NEC article 230.46 requirements. Constructed from aluminum with a black plastisol insulated finish, the IT-500 boasts an ergonomic design with rounded corners for comfortable handling. Each port and adjustable set screw is protected by a removable plug to prevent debris, moisture, or contaminants from entering the connector. Both dual-side entry ports come pre-filled with an oxide inhibitor gel to prevent corrosion and maintain low-contact resistance. The durable insulation is resistant to UV, abrasion, and chemicals, ensuring reliable performance. This connector operates at a 600V rating and is UL 486A/B standard compliant. It is suitable for both copper and aluminum conductors classified as Class B and Class C. The maximum torque value for this connector is 450.0 in-lb.
