The TCI Automotive Breakaway Converter (model 240900) is engineered for TH350/400 transmissions featuring a dual bolt pattern. This torque converter provides a versatile stall speed range of 2200-2600 RPM, specifically calibrated to 2200-2400 RPM for small block engines and 2400-2600 RPM for big block engines. Designed as a first step into high performance, the Breakaway converter is ideal for street machines with mild modifications and dedicated weekend racers who also use their vehicles daily. It delivers approximately 2400 to 2600 RPM flash stall without compromising part-throttle driving efficiency. This ensures both strong launches at wide-open throttle and smooth cruising at highway speeds. Constructed for durability and performance, the Breakaway converter features furnace-brazed fins, needle bearings, a hardened, pre-ground pump hub, and computer balancing. It also incorporates TCI's HDT Coating for enhanced heat dissipation. The specifications indicate suitability for camshaft durations between 265 to 280 degrees and rear gear ratios from 3.00 to 3.73, with an engine characteristic of fair idle and mild modifications.
