Calico Coated Main Bearing Set

The CTS Turbo Calico Coated ACL Race Main Bearing Set is engineered for high-performance applications in specific VW 4-cylinder engines. These are not simply coated OEM bearings; they begin as premium ACL Race bearings with a hardened steel backing, increased bearing crush for enhanced retention, and greater ovality to manage rod distortion at high RPMs. The entire assembly is then professionally coated by Calico, creating a robust, high-performance bearing from the inside out. This complete set includes six bearings with oil grooves and four without, ensuring proper oil circulation for critical engine components. The #4 journal specifically receives a bearing with grooves on both sides, while others have a grooved bearing on the block side only. These bearings are available in standard size or with a +.0005" per shell oversize, providing an additional .001" of bearing clearance for extreme applications. This bearing set fits most VW 4-cylinder engines manufactured between 1983 and 2008. It is crucial to note that these bearings do not fit the newer TSI chain-driven engines.
