Calico Coated Rod Bearing Set

The CTS Turbo Calico Coated Rod Bearings are engineered for demanding VW and Audi 4-cylinder performance engine builds, particularly when used with IE Connecting Rods. Each bearing begins as a premium ACL Race Bearing shell, featuring a hardened steel backing that enhances bearing crush for superior shell retention and a reduced risk of bearing spin. The increased ovality design is crucial for compensating for rod distortion during high-RPM operation, ensuring reliability in high-powered street and track applications. These bearings are further enhanced with Calico Coating's CT-1 Dry Film Lubricant. This advanced coating acts as an intermittent dry lubricant, significantly reducing friction and abrasive wear. It is highly resistant to dust and dirt particles that might be present in engine oil, contributing to a longer and more dependable service life for the bearing surface. A critical aspect of these bearings is their specific design for use with IE Connecting Rods. All VW/Audi 4-cylinder IE Rod big-ends are precisely machined to accept these engine bearings, which feature a bearing tang for improved strength and spin resistance. It is essential to note that factory rods do not accept tang bearings and are therefore not compatible with this product; these bearings are exclusively for use with IE Rods. Optional +.001" oversized bearing clearances are available for engines where crankshafts may require additional clearance. The purchase and installation of oversized bearings should be undertaken with extreme caution. These bearings are compatible with a wide range of VW and Audi models including A3, A4, A6, TT, S3, TTS, Golf, GTI, Golf R, Corrado, Jetta, Beetle, Passat, and EOS, primarily those equipped with 1.8T, 2.0T FSI, or 2.0 TSI engines.
