GNX4 calipers are engineered by Wilwood using in-house FEA design and 3-D modeling technology. They offer unyielding strength and a superior piston design that generates positive pedal response and high clamping efficiency, all while providing substantial weight savings compared to many comparable OE (Original Equipment) calipers. These calipers feature forged billet aluminum bodies, stainless steel pistons, and high-temperature seals, which are designed to prevent the rust, bore pitting, and seal failures commonly found in many OE caliper designs. Important Warning: Current GNX4 caliper assemblies are designed solely for use with DOT 5 fluids and should not be used with DOT 3, 4, or 5.1 fluids. Stainless steel pistons effectively delay heat transfer from the brake pads, while the aluminum calipers dissipate heat more quickly than traditional OE cast iron calipers. This results in cooler operating temperatures, leading to a longer service life in any driving environment. Each caliper also incorporates stainless SRS bridge plates to minimize wear from pad gouging at the caliper bridge. The spring-loaded action of these SRS plates further reduces noise by eliminating pad rattle and dampening engagement harmonics.
