The Aftermarket 06K109021M is a genuine Volkswagen/Audi intake camshaft designed to replace the original component in various VW and Audi models. This camshaft is crucial for controlling the opening and closing of the engine's intake and exhaust valves. It features precisely shaped lobes that push on valve lifters, rocker arms, or cam followers, thereby opening the valves at specific times within the engine's cycle. The camshaft's timing is synchronized with the crankshaft, typically via a timing belt, chain, or gears, to ensure proper coordination with piston movement for efficient combustion. This specific intake camshaft integrates a variable valve timing (VVT) cam adjuster at its end. It is important to note that this adjuster is not available as a separate part; therefore, if the adjuster fails, the entire camshaft assembly must be replaced. The part number 06K109021M supersedes previous versions, including 06K 109 021, 06K 109 021 H, and 06K 109 021 L. When replacing older camshaft versions (06K 109 021, 06K 109 021 H, or 06K 109 021 L) with this updated camshaft, it is mandatory to also replace the Timing Control Valve (also known as Oil Control Valve or Spool Valve) with the updated version (e.g., 06K-109-257-H). The older version of the valve is incompatible and cannot be reused with this camshaft.
