The ZZP NIC-RPM camshaft is engineered for 3800 engines, specifically targeting supercharged applications. It achieves this through significant overlap, which slightly reduces low-end torque but allows for more aggressive boost levels at lower RPMs. The NIC-RPM cam is suitable for use with intercoolers and stock heads due to its moderate lift, though it performs well at high RPMs, generating power beyond 6500. Key specifications for the NIC-RPM cam include a duration of 220°/230° at .050" lift, with both intake and exhaust lift measuring .507" (at 1.6:1 rocker ratio), and a lobe separation of 112°. Due to its aggressive nature and the potential for increased RPM, ZZP highly recommends pairing the NIC-RPM cam with a 136# Comp Cams valve spring, modified retainers, LS7 lifters, ZZP Custom Pushrods, a Rollmaster double timing chain, an extra thick front cover gasket, and a machined oil pump cover. Comprehensive PCM programming is also a requirement for optimal performance and to address potential issues like O2 sensor readings with increased overlap. A ZZP NIC tune is specifically recommended, or extensive dyno tuning with a wideband sensor is advised if tuning yourself.
