The AMC 666864K is a camshaft kit designed as a direct replacement for VW Passat models. The engine camshaft plays a crucial role in the internal combustion process by controlling the opening and closing of the engine valves within the cylinder head. Proper lubrication is paramount for the longevity and performance of the camshaft; insufficient lubrication from clogged oil passages or dirty oil can lead to scoring and excessive wear on the camshaft lobes. Worn camshaft lobes can result in valves not opening fully, which directly impacts engine performance by reducing power output. A damaged camshaft can also lead to other issues such as engine misfires, knocking sounds, rough idling, and in severe cases, prevent the engine from starting. Regular inspection and measurement of camshaft tolerances during engine service are recommended to ensure continued proper function. This kit includes the camshaft and associated hardware necessary for installation. It is specified for the VW Passat 2.0L Diesel models from 2004-2005. The diameter of the camshaft is 62mm and its length is 424mm.
