The Schley SCH96800 Universal Camshaft Pulley Holding Tool is an essential tool for mechanics working on OHC (Overhead Cam) engines. This specialized wrench is engineered with precisely grooved pins that firmly grip the camshaft pulley, holding it stationary. This functionality is critical when loosening or tightening the center shaft bolt during engine maintenance or repair. While this tool is beneficial for a wide range of Asian overhead cam engines, it is especially crucial for transverse-mounted V6 engines. Specific applications include the VG30 engine found in Nissan Maximas, and the 3VZFE and 1MZFE engines commonly used in Toyota Camrys. The design addresses a common challenge on these vehicles: the rear pulleys are often in very close proximity to the shock tower, making removal and replacement difficult without a locking device like the SCH96800.
