The Tomei Poncam exhaust camshaft, part number TA301E-SB02A, is engineered to enhance the performance of Subaru STi vehicles. This camshaft features a 254-degree duration and 10.30mm lift, employing Tomei's proprietary VALC (Valve Action Control) profile. This advanced profile allows valves to open faster and remain open longer, significantly increasing the area under the lift curve to generate more power and optimize engine performance. The VALC profile also ensures a slower valve closing rate, which helps to mitigate common valve train related issues. Unlike conventional high-lift camshafts that can exceed the valve lifter's surface and cause damage, Tomei's VALC design deliberately reduces maximum cam velocity. This limits lobe travel on the lifter surface, maximizing lobe travel without exceeding the lifter's outer edge. Compared to standard profile camshafts with similar lift, VALC camshafts achieve even greater lift and performance gains while reducing stress and wear on the valve train. It is a direct replacement part for the stock camshafts, requiring no special modifications for installation, and works with standard valve springs. It is explicitly stated that this product is intended for OFF ROAD use only and may not be legal for street use. It cannot be shipped to California.
