Camshaft with .511" Intake Lift and .497" Exhaust Lift

The Comp Cams Thumpr camshaft is a retro-fit hydraulic roller camshaft designed to enhance the performance of Chevrolet Small Block engines (262-400ci). It operates within a 1900-5600 RPM range, providing .511 inches of intake valve lift and .497 inches of exhaust valve lift. The camshaft's specifications include an advertised intake duration of 283 degrees and an exhaust duration of 303 degrees, with durations at .050 lift measuring 227 degrees for intake and 241 degrees for exhaust. The lobe separation is set at 107 degrees. This camshaft is optimized for use with a melanized or nitrided distributor gear; it is not compatible with cast or steel gears unless they feature a similar surface treatment. Stock (O.E.) valve springs cannot be used, and it is strongly recommended to check piston-to-valve clearance. While it may work with a stock torque converter, it performs best with a 2000+ RPM converter and appropriate gearing, producing a characteristically choppy/thumping idle.
