Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft

The Driveshaft Shop FDSH10-C is a high-performance, one-piece drive shaft engineered for the 2007-2012 Shelby GT500 Mustang equipped with a manual transmission. Constructed from high-modulus carbon fiber, this shaft significantly reduces rotating mass, contributing to quicker elapsed times (ETs) at the drag strip. It offers a lighter and stronger alternative to the stock unit, weighing in at approximately 17 lbs. The drive shaft features a 3.25-inch diameter tube, providing ample clearance, and is precision balanced for high-speed operation, supporting power levels up to 900 HP. It includes a 1350 front u-joint with a flange for transmission mounting and a 108mm CV at the rear with a special boot and grease. A custom conversion plate is included to adapt from the stock Ford CV to the 108mm version, and all necessary hardware is provided. The carbon fiber construction also offers improved torsional strength over aluminum shafts and can help reduce cabin noise. This design is particularly beneficial for lowered vehicles, as the rear CV eliminates the need to change the pinion angle. The use of a 300M spline for the CV mount enhances durability. The manufacturer also notes that the carbon shaft is about 1-2 lbs lighter than comparable aluminum shafts. Buyers are advised to consult with their TÜV auditor regarding registration requirements.
