The VIS Racing OEM Style Carbon Fiber Hood is engineered to provide a sleek, performance-oriented look for the 2002-2006 Acura RSX 2-door models. Crafted from 100% ISO-certified, Grade-A carbon fiber, this hood is designed to be a direct replacement for the factory unit, offering an OEM style that seamlessly integrates with the vehicle's aesthetics. The construction utilizes a two-part design, with the top layer of carbon fiber bonded to the hood surface using high-grade epoxy resin. This is then finished with an ultra-clear, UV-protective polyurethane coating, known as Poly Shield, to ensure a lasting high-gloss finish that resists fading and damage from the elements. The underside features a one-piece, smooth shell that enhances structural integrity, while the edges are meticulously hand-smoothed for a quality finish. VIS Racing continuously improves its manufacturing processes. Since 2014, they have implemented the Vacuum Infusion Process (V.I.P.), which uses a single-mold vacuum to produce parts that are 10-20% lighter and more durable than those made with older methods. This hood is transitioning to the V.I.P. process for enhanced performance and longevity without a significant cost increase. Installation of this carbon fiber hood requires professional expertise. Minor sanding, shaving, cutting, and filling may be necessary prior to installation and painting. It is recommended to test fit all parts before any modifications or painting. Additionally, due to the nature of aftermarket aerodynamic components, hood pins are required for safe operation.
