Carbon Fiber Intake System for EA888 Gen 3 MQB

The APR Carbon Fiber Intake System is an attractive, high-performance upgrade designed for the latest 1.8T and 2.0T EA888 Gen 3 MQB engines. While the factory intake provides a foundation for performance, APR's design significantly improves upon it by enhancing mass airflow and filtration. This leads to noticeable gains in horsepower and torque across the power band, a more direct and responsive feel when accelerating, and a more engaging engine and turbocharger sound. Some drivers may also experience improved fuel economy depending on their driving style. Key features of this system include increased horsepower and torque, improved throttle response, and enhanced engine sound. It utilizes a closed carbon fiber airbox constructed from a 2x2 weave, providing both aesthetic appeal and performance benefits. All necessary mounting hardware is included for a straightforward installation, which connects directly to the factory turbo inlet pipe without the need for additional couplers or hose clamps. APR's extensive research and development involved creating multiple prototype designs, testing various filter mediums, and utilizing flow bench analysis and dyno data. The engineers focused on optimizing the pressure ratio between the intake's inlet and outlet, reducing turbulence, maximizing filter efficiency, and maintaining low intake air temperatures (IAT). The carbon composite design also includes a thin fiberglass backing for improved thermal insulation. This system draws air from the coldest possible location at the front of the vehicle, before the radiator, and its sealed design prevents the ingestion of hot under-hood air. The system is CARB EO D-782-8 legal for sale and use in all 50 states. It is compatible with future APR upgrades, including larger Stage 3 Turbocharger Systems. Please note that specific configurations may require additional components: a MAF adapter (CI100051) is needed for 2.0T EA888.3b engines with an MAF sensor on the intake tube. The TT and TTS models require an inlet adapter (CI100033-C), and models with Secondary Air Injection (SAI) require a breather filter (CI100020-A). The MK7 Jetta GLI requires an inlet adapter (CI100033-E).
