The PRL Motorsports Matte Carbon High Volume Intake System is engineered to significantly enhance airflow for performance-oriented Honda Civic Type R FL5 (2023-2024) and Acura Integra Type S DE5 (2024+) models. This intake system features a striking matte carbon fiber construction, representing a new material direction for PRL Motorsports. It shares many design characteristics with their established roto-molded FL5 air box but includes slight modifications to the mounting system and factory seal attachment points. Extensive testing by PRL has identified the factory rubber inlet as a bottleneck, potentially causing a 10–20 horsepower loss with the hood closed. To combat this, the Matte Carbon High Volume Intake System incorporates a secondary air duct, directly addressing and eliminating these airflow restrictions. By maximizing the intake's opening size and optimizing airflow into the air box, this system delivers a substantial increase in airflow over the OEM unit, ultimately maximizing engine performance and delivering the quality and visual appeal synonymous with the PRL brand. Notably, this intake system requires NO ECU CALIBRATION, simplifying the installation process. PRL Motorsports has meticulously designed this intake to seamlessly integrate performance excellence with a visually appealing aesthetic, making it suitable for enthusiasts seeking both a significant performance upgrade and a refined race car flair for their build.
