It offers a range of available venturi sizes, from 28mm to 40mm, allowing for customization based on engine needs. The optimal barrel size for this carburetor can be determined by multiplying the selected venturi size by 1.25. Proper jetting is crucial for optimal performance with Dellorto carburetors, especially when purchased second-hand, as they are rarely 'ready jetted.' A useful formula for calculating the main jet size is to multiply the main venturi size by 4. Similarly, the air corrector jet should initially be set around 50 higher than the main jet. For example, a 2000cc engine expecting peak power around 6000 RPM would ideally use 36mm chokes, requiring a 45mm barrel size. While 40mm DHLA carburetors can accommodate a 36mm choke, the 45mm or 48mm versions offer greater potential for more tuned engines.
