The Mobil Centaur XHP 460 Series greases, including the Centaur XHP 461 (NLGI-1), are premium formulations utilizing advanced calcium sulfonate thickener technology. This technology provides inherent rust protection and robust extreme pressure (EP) properties, outperforming conventional soap-base thickeners in challenging conditions. The calcium sulfonate thickener is exceptionally effective in water-saturated environments, offering extended rust protection even between long re-lubrication intervals. They provide a balanced combination of water washout and water spray-off resistance, along with excellent corrosion protection, in severely wet operational settings. The advanced polymer additive package further enhances resistance to water washout, and the thickener is capable of absorbing free water without losing consistency. This formulation ensures reliability and consistency, even with high levels of water contamination, while maintaining EP protection characteristics. Key features of the Mobil Centaur XHP 460 Series include excellent extreme-pressure protection and load-carrying ability for equipment protection under heavy and shock loading, as well as reliable bearing lubrication for operations up to 232°C (450°F) with proper re-greasing intervals. They also offer excellent high-temperature oil bleed control. The ability to extend re-grease intervals contributes to reduced grease consumption.
