Chassis Brace

The TRD Member Brace set is engineered to reinforce the chassis at critical flex points, aiming to improve handling characteristics and steering response for the Toyota MR2 Spyder. This genuine Toyota Racing Development (TRD) part is designed as a direct replacement for the original member braces. The front brace installation is described as simple, typically taking around 15 minutes with basic tools. The rear brace installation presents more complexities, particularly concerning the placement of handbrake cables to avoid rubbing or damage, and the proper method for torquing the lower suspension arm bolts. TRD instructions suggest having weight in the car during final tightening to ensure the suspension bushings are properly loaded, preventing premature wear. It is recommended to perform the initial installation with the wheels off the ground for safety and ease, then lower the vehicle onto ramps or blocks for the final torque application. It is important to note that as of current information, this part is discontinued by the manufacturer. Additionally, there is a reported fitment concern: the front TRD brace may not fit 2004 and later models equipped with factory bracing. In such cases, using OEM bracing might be a preferable alternative.
