Overview

The Exedy Lightweight Flywheel is a performance upgrade designed to reduce rotating mass on the FA20 naturally aspirated engine. It offers improved engine response and better performance in high-speed operation without sacrificing low-speed torque. The flywheel is constructed from solid one-piece billet chromoly steel or chromoly steel forgings and features enhanced airflow to improve clutch cooling.

Engineered for lightly tuned racing cars and street use, this flywheel is compatible with Exedy Stage 1 Organic, Stage 2 Sports, and Stage 2 Racing clutches. It is SFI 1.1 approved and has passed engineering tests of 18,000 RPM.

The Exedy Lightweight Flywheel (TF02) combines low weight, low inertia, and high thermal capacity, making it ideal for light to moderately tuned racing cars and street applications. Its design incorporates special features to enhance airflow, leading to better clutch cooling. The ring gear teeth are integrated directly onto the flywheel, a critical advantage over aluminum flywheels where pressed-on rings can separate due to differing expansion coefficients. This solid construction ensures durability and reliability. The EXEDY lightweight flywheels have undergone rigorous engineering tests, successfully passing assessments up to 15,000-18,000 RPM, and are SFI 1.1 approved, guaranteeing their suitability for competitive motorsports. Key benefits include improved throttle response, allowing the engine to rev more quickly, and a cooler operating clutch temperature due to enhanced airflow from integrated fins. The product weighs 13.7 lbs and is rated to operate reliably at speeds between 15,000 and 18,000 RPM. It comes with a 60-day limited warranty from Exedy. Applications include the 2013-2020 Subaru BRZ, 2017-2020 Toyota 86, and 2013-2016 Scion FR-S.
