Overview

The Clutch Masters FX725 Twin-Disc 7.25in Twin Disc Clutch Kit is designed for high-performance BMW M3 E46 models from 2001-2006 (6-speed and SMG transmissions). This light-weight clutch and flywheel package is suitable for mixed track and occasional street use. The kit includes an aluminum cover assembly with an attached diaphragm, pressure plate ring, two discs, one mid plate, release bearing, pilot bearing, and pressure plate bolts. It features a 7.25\" twin disc setup that reduces weight without sacrificing friction surface, utilizing mixed ceramic and fibertuff (organic) clutch materials for a street-friendly experience with high torque ratings. The billet aluminum cover offers increased strength and reliability, eliminating failure-prone drive straps. The 6061-T6 aluminum flywheel meets SFI spec 1.2 for competition and includes a replaceable friction surface. The entire assembly weighs 18 lbs. This kit requires the Clutch Masters flywheel FW-140-TDA, sold separately. More noise and chatter are to be expected due to the single-mass flywheel design, particularly during the break-in period.

What makes our FX725 and FX850 Multi-Disc Kits truly special, and a feature unique to Clutch Masters is our QR System, or Quick Release Pressure Plate. The QR System Incorporates three spring-loaded bolts allowing the pressure plate to engage and disengage evenly and smoothly while reducing internal clutch noise/chatter by up to 50%. The QR System was developed to provide quiet and smooth operation for the street user while delivering the performance a multi-disc race clutch needs. Flywheels are made for each specific application in either aluminum or steel. Our aluminum flywheels are machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum to meet SFI spec 1.2 for competition in NHRA, NDRA, IDRC, IHRA, SCCA and NASA. Aluminum flywheels are Type 3 hard coat anodized to ensure their durability and performance lasts. Each aluminum flywheel includes a replaceable insert. Steel flywheels are machined from 1045 billet cores and are then black oxide treated for rust prevention.
