The Clutch Masters FX850 is an 8.5” (216mm) Twin Disc clutch kit designed for high-performance street and racing applications, particularly for engines/transmissions with smaller bell-housings. It's engineered to handle substantial horsepower and torque while maintaining manageable pedal pressure. This is achieved by re-engineering the leverage or fulcrum point on the pressure plate using Clutch Masters' Hi-Leverage™ technique, increasing clamping power without significantly increasing pedal pressure (typically around a 50% increase depending on the application). The cover assembly is machined from billet aluminum, Type 3 hard anodized, offering approximately 25% more tensile strength than cast units, which helps eliminate flex and provides consistent clutch operation. The 850 Twin Disc can be upgraded to the DLX series, which features dampened discs for improved daily drivability and drivetrain shock protection. A unique feature is the QR System (Quick Release Pressure Plate), incorporating three spring-loaded bolts for smooth engagement and disengagement, and reducing clutch noise/chatter by up to 50%.
