The EQT Coil Grounding Kit (CGK) is designed to address a prevalent issue on the MQB EA888.3 platform: the vulnerability of the factory cam cover's aluminum threads, which can strip when servicing the ignition system. A damaged or weak ground for the ignition coil can lead to unnecessary knock retard or reduced spark energy. This kit provides a solution by isolating the ignition coil's ground to its own circuit and connecting it directly to the chassis. This bypasses the need to remove the OE stud for grounding purposes, thereby eliminating the risk of a weak, loose, or damaged ground connection. The kit includes a precision-made grounding harness with OEM terminals, four new flanged bolts to minimize stripping risk, and a de-pinning tool. The harness is terminated with OEM 3.5 Series terminals and an amp seal. Each kit is assembled by hand in California, USA, ensuring stringent quality control. Fitment verification is crucial; customers must check their coil pack connector for either a '4D0' or '8K0' marking. This kit does not remedy existing damage to the cam cover threads; such issues require professional repair like a Helicoil or Timecert. Installation involves pinning and de-pinning the factory connector, with detailed instructions provided.
