Overview

The STM Tuned Coil-On-Plug Ignition System is a performance ignition upgrade for 1996-2005 Mitsubishi Evolution IV-VIII models. Utilizing genuine R35 GTR NGK ignition coils, this system supports modified builds ranging from 400 to 800 horsepower.

Constructed in the USA, the kit features a waterproof harness with military-grade Tefzel wire and a carbon fiber mounting plate.

The STM Coil-On-Plug (COP) Ignition System provides a high-output spark solution for modified Mitsubishi Evolution IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII builds. Engineered to support between 400 and 800 horsepower, this kit replaces the factory ignition with four individual NGK coils sourced from the R35 GTR, effectively increasing spark energy to allow for higher boost levels and improved fuel burn. Each system is hand-assembled in the USA, featuring a waterproof harness built with military-grade Tefzel Teflon wire and Stay-Clean sheathing, finished with a carbon fiber mounting plate and corrosion-resistant hardware. The system is compatible with the stock ECU, as well as AEM EMS V1 & V2, Haltech, MegaSquirt, and SunAuto Hyperforce units. It will not function with CDI boxes or the HKS DLI. Installation requires specific considerations: it is designed exclusively for OEM valve covers and does not fit the Magnus aluminum valve cover (compatibility with FrontlineFab covers is unconfirmed). Furthermore, the kit will not fit under the factory spark plug cover. A 15A fuse must be installed in the interior driver-side fuse box to accommodate the increased power draw. Tuning is strictly required to run these coils; the system should not be installed without an accompanying dyno tune. This kit is not intended for plug-and-play use without ECU calibration.
