Coil-On-Plug Ignition System

The Street Tuned Motorsports Coil-On-Plug (COP) Ignition System is engineered for the Mitsubishi Evolution IV through VIII (1996-2005). This USA-Made system utilizes genuine R35 GTR NGK ignition coils, designed to handle over 800 horsepower. It aims to greatly reduce or eliminate partial throttle bucking, improve idle quality, and provide a hotter spark for better fuel burn and longer plug life. The system is constructed with a waterproof harness made from military-grade Tefzel Teflon wire and Stay-Clean wire sheathing. It includes a carbon fiber mounting plate with stainless and aluminum hardware. This COP ignition is intended for modified builds ranging from 400 to 800 HP and is compatible with the stock ECU as well as popular aftermarket ECUs like AEM EMS V1 & V2, Haltech, MegaSquirt, and SunAuto Hyperforce. It is not compatible with CDI boxes or the HKS DLI. Vehicle Fitment is specific to the 1996-2005 Evolution IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII models. Crucially, tuning is REQUIRED when using the GTR coils; this is not a simple plug-and-play swap for normal driving and is best performed on a dyno with a tuner. It does not fit the Magnus aluminum valve cover, and compatibility with the FrontlineFab cover is unconfirmed. Installation notes include replacing the factory 10A fuse in the interior fuse box with the included 15A fuse, as the ignition system draws more power. The kit includes the assembled STM Coil-On-Plug Ignition System, an assembled wire harness, a zip tie, two stainless bolts, two stainless washers, and a 15 AMP fuse. The product typically ships within 2-4 weeks due to hand assembly and component availability.
