The MAF sensor is retained and positioned within the SF intake tube for accurate air mass measurement, a critical component for proper engine management. The design focuses on improving airflow dynamics by utilizing a CFD-designed velocity stack and an airflow straightener grid to smooth incoming air before it reaches the Mass Air Flow sensor. Constructed from a high-temperature plastic composite, the intake body offers reduced weight and improved heat rejection compared to the stock airbox. However, it is crucial to note that all aftermarket intakes for 08+ Subarus require ECU tuning. Using the appropriate Accessport SF intake map ensures the MAF sensor reads correctly and the engine operates within safe parameters, allowing for the full realization of improved throttle response and power delivery.
