Cold Air Intake

The GrimmSpeed Cold Air Intake is engineered for 2013-2021 Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, and Toyota GT86 models, offering a performance upgrade for the air and fuel system. This intake is designed to deliver noticeable horsepower and torque gains across the entire RPM range, including a reduction in the mid-range torque dip and peak gains of up to 6 horsepower at the wheels. A key design consideration was to ensure the intake is safe for the engine, mimicking factory air-fuel ratios and therefore not requiring a tune for installation and operation. Installation is designed to be straightforward and can be completed in approximately 30 minutes without the need to remove the front bumper, addressing a common issue with other aftermarket intakes where bumper fitment can be compromised. The construction features a laser-cut, CNC-bent, and powder-coated airbox assembly, with MAF flanges CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and a custom-bent intake tube. The MAF sensor is strategically placed within the airbox to ensure accurate readings unaffected by engine bay heat. The kit includes the intake tube, high-flow dry filter, hump hose connector, airbox assembly, hose clamps, PCV hose extension and clamp, MAF flange screws, rubber sealing strip, and a noise generator delete plug. Extensive research and development, including dyno testing with various configurations and input from the FT86Club community, informed the design. The result is an intake that not only enhances performance but also maintains engine safety and facilitates a hassle-free installation.
