This kit comes with a fully enclosed airbox that protects the filter from dirt and keeps out engine heat. New Snap In Lid Design: Our new snap-In lid design requires no screws to secure it to the box. This makes installation and inspection quick and easy, as the filter can be installed and removed without having to remove the intake tube. Our silicone edge trim ensures an airtight seal, protecting against unwanted, power-robbing engine heat. (Patent Pending) This kit comes with a massive, highly-efficient air filter which results in better performance and protects your engine. Available in either 8-layer Cotton Cleanable or Dry Extendable media. Silicone Hood Scoop Seal: The L5P intake kit features a silicone air scoop seal that integrates with the OEM hood scoop and feeds air to the filter. More airflow equals better performance Choose Your Airflow: More air equals better performance. The Duramax L5P 6.6L intake features three air inlet points. If you want to customize the amount of air you take in, we provide an optional box plug that can seal off one inlet point. Stock intake boxes are a significant contributor to poor airflow which is why S&B designs custom air boxes with secondary and/or enlarged openings. With that said, S&B recognizes the benefits of cooler air, so we have included a plug to seal off the opening if desired. For optimal performance, we recommend that the intake be used without the box plug, except in conditions of an extreme heatwave. No Check Engine Lights: S&B devotes a huge amount of resources to engineer our intakes that allow your engine to run properly with stock calibration or enhanced tuning. This kit was designed to avoid check engine lights with its properly mapped Mass Air Flow Sensor.
