The Cometic C5817-036 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket designed for GM Gen-V/VI Big Block V8 engines with a 4.320-inch bore. It features a compressed thickness of 0.036 inches and utilizes outer layers with a Viton rubber coating for enhanced sealing.

Its construction from multiple layers of stainless steel offers increased strength, rebound capability, and corrosion resistance. The Viton coating on the outer layers is heat-resistant up to 250°C (482°F) and is suitable for various demanding sealing environments.
