Competition Intercooler

The Wagner Tuning Competition Intercooler is engineered to be a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory intercooler on 2011-2012 Ford F-150 models equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. This unit boasts a "Competition" dual-core design utilizing specialized internal turbolators to dramatically increase cooling efficiency. With over three times the volume and a 35% larger face area than the stock intercooler, it provides a substantial boost in cooling performance, leading to significant power gains. Constructed from aluminum with a corrosion-resistant finish, this intercooler is built for durability in various climates and applications, including street, off-road, high-performance, and towing. Unlike the factory unit, Wagner's intercooler avoids condensation issues, enhancing reliability even without a reflash. The system is designed to maintain air pressure throughout its cores, ensuring optimal delivery of cool charge air to the 3.5L EcoBoost V6. It is important to note that this specific intercooler is designed exclusively for the 2011 and 2012 F-150 EcoBoost trucks. A separate part number (200001041) is available for the 2013 to 2014 F-150 models due to differences in the Blow-Off Valve (BOV) location. While the intercooler does not strictly require a custom tune, its performance is significantly enhanced when paired with custom tuning solutions. The kit is CARB EO D-769 compliant, making it 50-State Legal. Installation is straightforward, with an available install guide provided by Stage 3 Motorsports. While the intercooler generally does not cause issues with transmission temperatures, some users have reported increased transmission temperatures during hotter weather due to the intercooler potentially blocking airflow to the lower portion of the radiator where the transmission fluid cooler is located. Solutions such as upgraded transmission pans or auxiliary coolers have been suggested to mitigate this.
