The ZRP connecting rods are designed for BMW M50/M52 engine series. They are built from 4340 high tensile steel with an optimized shape for high performance and durability. The bushings are made from AMPCO 18 material for wear and fatigue resistance.

The ZRP I-Beam Connecting Rods are engineered for BMW M50/M52 engine series, crafted from 4340 high tensile steel with a specially optimized shape for high performance and extreme durability. These rods feature bushings made from AMPCO 18 material, providing excellent resistance to wear and fatigue, and include radial grooves that act as an oil reservoir. Further enhancing their strength and longevity, the connecting rods are shot peened to relieve material stress and undergo a multi-stage heat treatment to increase rigidity. The production process maintains tight tolerances, ensuring perfect fitment and optimizing oil clearances, while bend and twist are strictly controlled. Each rod set includes ARP 2000 cap fasteners rated at 220,000psi, with an option to upgrade to ARP L19 material fasteners rated at 260,000psi. The kit is supplied with ARP moly and comprehensive fitting instructions. Additional machining processes include dowel sleeves for precise re-assembly, lipped cap relief for improved big-end integrity under extreme conditions, and grooves in the thrust face for weight reduction. Technical features highlight an I-Beam shape for extra rigidity, two-piece forging for great strength, and shot peening for improved fatigue life. Magnaflux inspection ensures material consistency, while double-ribbed caps provide added support. Multi-stage heat treatment maximizes strength, dimensional stability, and fatigue life. CNC machining achieves superior tolerances up to 0.0002", with center-to-center measurements maintained under a .001" tolerance. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used for computer-generated stress analysis, and rods are optimally balanced to weight-matched sets within ± 1 gram.
