Convertible Crossmember

The G Force 1964-1967 A Body Convertible Crossmember is engineered to provide a proper fit for 1964-1967 GM A-body convertible or boxed frame vehicles when paired with 8L90E Slip Yoke, 10L80E, and 10L90E transmissions. This crossmember is designed with specific considerations for these modern transmissions, including the necessary GF-GMATM Transmission Mount and the GF-8L90-A transmission mount adapter to accommodate the tailshaft housings. Constructed with a durable black powder-coated finish, this crossmember includes all the required mounting hardware for installation. For vehicles from 1964-1967 with convertible or boxed frames, the distance between the crossmember frame mounting holes should be measured to confirm fitment, as it is precisely 43-1/4 inches. The product description advises that if the frame-mounted crossmember bolts directly to the frame rail, the rubber liner should not be used. Instead, the provided 7/16″ hardware should be used, and the frame holes may need to be enlarged to 1/2″ with a drill bit. If retaining the stock 3/8″ hardware, using new Grade #8 fasteners is strongly recommended. The crossmember is designed with transmission mounting tabs positioned towards the front of the car and exhaust humps on the top, adjacent to the floor pan. Aluminum spacers are provided to allow for customization of the transmission mount height by positioning them between the crossmember and the GM three-hole transmission mount, using longer bolts for secure engagement. Some applications may not require any spacers.
