The BMW Genuine Parts 13621433077 is an Original Equipment (OE) quality coolant temperature sensor, manufactured in Germany. This essential component is situated in the lower radiator hose and transmits crucial coolant temperature information to the vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU utilizes this data to manage the thermostat and the electric auxiliary fan. A malfunctioning sensor can provide the ECU with inaccurate readings, negatively impacting the cooling system's performance and potentially preventing the auxiliary fan from activating, which could lead to engine overheating. Additionally, this sensor is a common source of coolant leaks on many BMW models, especially if it is reused during a lower radiator hose replacement. It is recommended to replace this sensor whenever the lower radiator hose is replaced, and a new o-ring is typically included.
