The Varis Cooling Bonnet Hood is engineered to enhance the performance and efficiency of the VA Subaru WRX STI (2015-2021). This aerodynamic upgrade features functional heat extraction vents, crucial for dissipating engine heat and maintaining optimal operating temperatures, especially when using a front mount intercooler (FMIC). Constructed with a focus on lightweight performance, this hood significantly reduces weight compared to the OEM hood (5.8kg for VSDC vs. 9kg for OEM). It is available in multiple material options including FRP, carbon fiber, and VSDC (Varis semi-dry carbon), allowing for customization to suit aesthetic and performance preferences. The design complements the vehicle's aerodynamics without adding unnecessary mass. The package includes essential components such as aluminum mesh, rain guards, a special duct cover, and a stand bar. Due to the reduced weight, OEM bonnet dampers cannot be installed; Varis Carbon Bonnet Dampers are recommended as an alternative. Carbon products are typically delivered with a gel coat and benefit from the application of a UV-resistant PPF or clear coat for enhanced durability and appearance. All hoods are shipped fully insured via palletized freight services to ensure safe delivery. Varis has over 40 years of experience in composites, with parts engineered and handcrafted in-house, drawing from extensive racing development in platforms like Super GT and Super Taikyu.
