The 2JR 2013-2014 Focus ST Cowl Induction Intake represents a novel approach to engine intake systems, positioning itself as the world's first and only cowl induction intake for the Focus ST. This design strategically places the air filter inside the vehicle's cowl, directly drawing in cold ambient air from beneath the windshield. This is a significant departure from most aftermarket intakes that draw air from behind the engine bay fans, which can lead to the intake air being heated by the turbocharger's compression. Constructed in the USA, this intake emphasizes perfect fitment and quality. The kit comes complete with all required hoses, clamps, and a K&N air filter. The system is designed to be a direct fit for 2013-2014 Focus ST models, with provisions for the EVAP hardline and a machined fitting for the IAT sensor that mimics the stock setup for a secure connection. The filter itself is suspended within the cowl to prevent water collection on the floor, though the manufacturer recommends an optional K&N filter sock for added protection against water intrusion, especially in heavy rain conditions. Installation of the 2JR Cowl Induction Intake is estimated to take approximately 2 hours and does not require a tune. However, the installation process involves modifying the vehicle's bodywork, specifically cutting the lower plastic housing under the cowl and the upper cowl vent panel. A template for the vent panel cutout will be provided. Additionally, owners will need to extend their IAT wires by 36 inches or opt for the available JMS IAT Extension harness, which is a direct plug-and-play solution. It is important to note that this intake is significantly loud, producing substantial induction noise inside the cabin, particularly when accelerating. While street use is possible, it is primarily recommended for racing purposes due to the extreme noise level. The installation process also involves removing the sound symposer tube. Optional upgrades include a K&N Dry Flow Filter Wrap, the JMS IAT Extender, and 2JR Gold Heat Reflective/Protective Tape.
