The Ford Performance Coyote 5.0L 460hp Gen 3 Crate Engine (M-6007-M50C) is a contemporary 5.0L 32-valve DOHC V-8 engine designed for enhanced performance and efficiency. This engine boasts advanced features including Direct and Port Fuel Injection, Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), and high-flow aluminum cylinder heads. It achieves 460 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 420 ft.-lb.+ of torque at 4600 rpm when using premium fuel. The construction utilizes an all-aluminum block with plasma transferred wire arc spray coating, cross-bolted main bearing caps, and thick main bearing bulkheads for superior bottom-end strength and improved high-rpm performance through optimized oil drainback and windage control. Key components include hypereutectic aluminum pistons and sintered steel connecting rods, similar to those found in the Boss 302 Mustang. It is equipped with a forged steel crankshaft, a tuned composite intake manifold for efficient air delivery and weight savings, and an 80 mm single-bore, drive-by-wire throttle body with variable runner control. The included Mustang GT 409 stainless-steel tubular exhaust manifold is fitted only to the right side, as the left side typically features a catalytic converter not suited for conversion projects. For installation in street rod or project car applications, this crate engine requires specific additional components. It necessitates an Engine Control Pack (M-6017-504V) and a 5.0L 4V Alternator Kit (M-8600-M50BALT). The engine comes with a manual transmission harness and a production dual-mass flywheel, though the latter may not be compatible with all project car installations. For automatic transmission setups, users will need to source the appropriate flexplate, torque converter, and bellhousing; compatible 6R80 6-speed or 4R70W 4-speed automatic transmissions and accompanying parts are available. A vehicle harness and PCM are not included. The engine mount bosses and bell housing pattern are compatible with 4.6L modular engines and previous Coyote generations.
