Crankshaft Bolt

The ARP Crankshaft Damper Bolt is a performance-designed upgrade to address the common failure point of the factory crankshaft damper and timing belt drive gear interface found in VW and Audi 1.8T and 2.0T FSI engines. This interface often leads to lost timing and complete engine failures, especially with increased RPM in performance applications. The factory bolts can also become loose due to inadequate thread protection, further increasing failure rates. Manufactured by ARP to IE's specifications, this bolt is constructed from aerospace-grade materials, providing superior thread quality and strength. It increases clamping loads by over 10% compared to stock, ensuring a reliable, slip-free interface and protecting the timing gear keyways from shearing. The bolt is reusable if heated to 400 degrees Fahrenheit before removal. Installation requires a 13/16” 12-point drive and a quality torque wrench. The recommended torque specification is 78 ft-lb plus a 1/4 turn, using red Loctite®. A long bar may be needed to complete the final 1/4 turn due to the high torque involved. Ensure the crankshaft threads are thoroughly cleaned and inspected before installation. This bolt is designed for use on late 06A 1.8T engine blocks only and will not fit early 058 engine blocks found in B5 A4 and B5 Passat models (identified by an external water pump and internal drive shaft). It is also compatible with various 2.0T FSI (EA113) 06F engines, specifically those equipped with timing belts.
