This rubber bushing is critical for properly locating the shifter carrier arm to the transmission. It is listed by BMW as part number 25117507695. Most 1995-2005 BMW models will use one of these bushings, while newer models from 2006 onwards typically require two bushings for a "double shear" arrangement. This ensures precise shifter movement and helps reduce slop. It is important to note that this bushing is not compatible with specific models, including the 3/2003+ E46 330i 6-speed and the 2006 E90 330i (which use part #25117519670). While rubber offers the original feel, alternative polyurethane or Delrin options are available for a firmer, more direct shift.
