The BMW Crankshaft Hub is a direct replacement part for N55 and S55 engines. This hub is located at the front of the crankshaft and secures the timing chain and oil pump chain sprocket. It is the original design crank hub.

The Genuine BMW crankshaft hub is an OE replacement part specifically engineered for BMW's N55 and S55 engines. This critical component is situated at the front end of the crankshaft and functions by squeezing the timing chain and oil pump chain sprocket onto the crankshaft, secured by a larger M18 crankshaft hub bolt. This hub is generally considered a lifetime component within the engine's design. However, replacement may become necessary if the hub exhibits excessive wear or if the threads for the harmonic balancer bolts become damaged over time or due to external factors. The Genuine BMW brand ensures that this part meets the stringent quality standards set by BMW, providing the same quality as the original equipment used in manufacturing. It is important to note that this is the original design crank hub. It is not recommended for use on high-horsepower or significantly tuned vehicles, where an upgraded or alternative design may be more suitable.
