Crankshaft Timing Gear Bolt

The Integrated Engineering ARP Crankshaft Damper Bolt is engineered as a critical upgrade to prevent catastrophic engine failure caused by dropped timing belts on VW and Audi 1.8T 20V and 2.0T FSI engines. The stock timing gear interface is a known weak point, particularly under higher RPMs and performance modifications, often leading to lost timing and severe engine damage due to loose factory bolts and insufficient clamping force. This IE-designed, ARP-manufactured bolt is crafted from aerospace-grade materials, ensuring exceptional thread quality and strength. It provides a more robust solution by increasing clamping loads by over 10%, guaranteeing a secure, slip-free connection and safeguarding the timing gear keyway from shearing. The bolt is also reusable if removed properly by heating the interface to under 400°F. Installation requires precise torque specifications: 78 ft-lb plus an additional 1/4 turn, applied with a 13/16” 12-point socket and red Loctite®. Be prepared for the significant torque needed for the final 1/4 turn, which may require a long breaker bar. Thoroughly clean and inspect the crankshaft threads before installation. This damper bolt is designed for use on late 06A 1.8T engine blocks only and will not fit early 058 engine blocks (identified by an external water pump and internal drive shaft), such as those found in B5 A4 and B5 Passat models. It is compatible with a wide range of Audi and VW models equipped with the specified 1.8T 20V 06A engines and 2.0T FSI (EA113) 06F engines, including specific years and submodels like the A4 (B5, B6, B7), A6 (C5, C6), TT (MK1, MK2), A3 (MK1, MK2), S3, Golf/GTI (MK4, MK5, MK6), Jetta/GLI (MK4, MK5), Passat (B5, B5.5, B6), and Beetle.
