DBA's 5000 Series rotors are 2-piece direct replacement brake rotors, sharing all the benefits of the 4000 Series with added weight reduction and improved heat management through aerospace-grade aluminum hats (T6061-T6). They combine high carbon cast-iron rings with aluminum hats, held together with National Aerospace Standards (NAS) bolts and crimp nuts. The aluminum hats reduce unsprung weight and allow for uniform radial disc expansion, while reducing heat transfer from the disc to the hub. DBA recommends the 5000 Series for high-performance street vehicles, track days, club racing, and rally applications. DBA brake products are designed with advanced materials, precision manufacturing, unique slot profiles, and options for cross-drilled designs. They are cast from high carbon alloyed iron and undergo Thermal Stability Profiling (TSP) to handle increased stress and heat. Many designs incorporate DBA's patented Kangaroo Paw ventilation, which uses 144 diamond and teardrop patterned pillars to achieve up to a 30% increase in surface area and 20% improvement in cooling efficiency compared to traditional straight vane designs.
