Installation is designed to be a DIY-friendly process, typically achievable within 45 minutes, with all parts installed top-side in the engine bay. The Sigma Shifter provides an approximate 30% reduction in throws for both front-to-back and side-to-side movements, which is stated as the maximum achievable without overextending the shift cables. This kit is compatible with all VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat 5-speed transmissions that have chrome or silver shift weights. Specifically, Seat and Skoda models require the 1J0 711 051D or 1J0 711 051Q chrome shift weights. For Late MK4 vehicles (generally 2000 and later) with a chrome shift weight, it's a direct fit. Early MK4 models (1998-1999) with black shift weights are not compatible with this shifter. Vehicles from 2000-2001 may require an OE VAG cable end from 2002+ models, or an alternative aluminum side-to-side cable end.
